I like to consider myself an excentricly smart image creator, not to mention…shopper. I have been through many phases in my life (as well as many hair colors) and through them all a little piece has always remained. I always bought pieces, not outfits. I actually hate the word “outfit” (unless it’s being used in reference to home improvement), it implies there was a contrived attempt at having style, or no attempt at all. It says to me that your style didn’t just happen from the randomness of your closet and the cleverness of your taste. I tend to mix the collection of pieces I have gained from my many past phases to create a true “self” style. A style that is really ME. Not trendy or contrived like many “outfits” created. I weed through the trends and the phases to seek the pieces that I find most charming to my taste. And so when I go in my lively, inspiring, yet overcrowded closet to discover a new look…I appreciate that I took the time to uncover each piece, because I love them ALL! Yet I always feel there is something missing…so the exciting search continues…off I go!

Love Affair with 6 Design
I find myself enammord with the alluring family of nine whom are  being chicly exploted on the fantastically entertaining Bravo network. The inspirering show entitled “9 by Design” had me at hola. The husband and wife design team is dynamic, to say the least. Their eclectic style, taste and eyes are only to be advancedly highlighted by their commitment to eachother. A 13year marriage and seven well named, wildly expressive children, yes…seven. The power couple and their in-house entourage are untamable. And its is simply heavenly to watch. I am enthralled with their lifestyle, with the other artists they surround themselves with and the freethinking logic of their creativity as well as their parenting. The fascination lies within the easy they have within each other and all they take on. I guess no project can be too daunting after learning how to balance the parenting of seven children while creating a successful design business. The honest,
inspiring life they lead is not to be duplicated and is greatly coveted. Well, at least by me.

I have a standing date with myself and a small bug market every Sunday. It is a simple known pleasure, that I enjoy rummaging through things. I feel my commitment to becoming a hoarder takes dedication…and boy am I diligently dedicated to chasing my goal. I usually go with an object of desire to discover, but sometimes I just go…and those are the days I let myself get lost amoungst the scavengers. I have come home on those days with major jackpots! Or what I consider to be…such as a child’srocking horse, that I proceeded to spray paint gold, or a vintage gaussean dress that I wore in a best friends wedding, to a replica timepiece that was given as a treasured gift. I have discovery in my blood and the only true satisfaction I can get on a short weekend is through that of the $300 cash I invest at the Hollywood Flea Market. I urge you to take the plunge and discover something new, something that may take some time to find and may take some love to
make a perfect thing for you. But something you are sure to truly find inspiration within and your projects will be limitless.

I might have a problem. It is obvious that I am quite the stylish gal, but my closet is something I pride myself on and get great pleasure in creating severe envy from. The pieces I collect are each individually so special to me and I am eager to sezie the day I get to show each reserve piece to the  admiring public. I view my closet as a paint bucket and my body as the canvas. Seriously…don’t laugh. This is my ART! It always has been. I was shopping at thrift stores at age 10 and my favorite game as a girl was dress-up. My Assistant, Ben said to me, as he watched me pack (for Puerto Rico and we wrote the script for the nights I would be missing at the club) “If your ‘little girl’ could see you now, she would be so excited!” He was reffering to my feverish enthusiasm for each and every piece I pulled from my way too small closet. And the titillation I got from creating the weekend wardrobe, that was only comparable to a little girl on
Christmas morning . He watched as I calculated every detail, and paired things most would never dare. As I surved each element as a severly intrigal part of the picture of “making it work”, down to the strategic tear or fraying, (a little hippie signature style-’worn-in sexy’) I try to include in evey outfit. He said “I learn so much when I watch you work”, “Its not work, its art!”, I said . He replied “Yes, yes it is, and you’re a natural genius!” And this is why I keep him around… its always more fun when theres an apprieciative audience.

What  does a pair of replica antlers, a frame found on the street and a can of gold spray paint have in common? My new apartment décor! If we connect these dots it creates what I think to be a working masterpiece. I guess you can say I have a fearlessly eclectic sense of style, free from what’s considered to be normal or expected. I tend to take a fun yet classic approach when considering my home environment. The palette chosen this time was a simple yet severe black & white, allowing for a more whimsical take within the accenting and accessorizing. From the rushing White Rabbit line drawing on the back of the front door, always reminding me I’m late, to the stuffed mice running along the back of the couch, which have frightened many. To the dueling Mr. Potatoheads, Etch-a-Sketch, Slinky and Groucho glasses on my coffee table, which inspire me constantly. The mentioned oversized gold antlers mounted in the living room and the small set of horns in the
bathroom, continue to get gasps and the golden rocking horse in the my dance studio gives a unique yet chic exercising opportunity. I try to surprise my guests around every corner and the big black crow whom is perched on my ballet barre has yet to disappoint. To be cliche, expect the unexpected when coming for a visit and please, beware of wild alien dog and mini goat greeters.
